In 2026, Plaguestorm returns with a new album and a renewed lineup, now established as a duo formed by Sebastián Pastor and Alexander Richichi. In this new stage, Sebastián handles composition, instrumentation and production, while Alexander delivers vocals and lyrics, forging a more direct, intense and defined identity within the Melodic Death Metal genre.
The project presents its upcoming studio album, Path to Emptiness, set for independent release on June 26, 2026. The album was mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nördstrom, a key figure in shaping the Göteborg sound, known for his work with seminal bands such as In Flames, At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity.
Musically, the album pushes Plaguestorm’s sound into a more extreme yet deeply emotional territory, combining aggressive riffing, melancholic harmonies and an intense rhythmic foundation with denser, more atmospheric passages, supported by a versatile vocal performance that shifts between harsh, raw delivery and more expressive nuances, adding depth and dynamic range to the compositions.
As in previous releases, Diego Martínez appears as a guest musician, contributing emotionally driven guitar solos that further enrich the album’s sonic identity.
The production reinforces a modern approach while preserving the essence of classic Melodic Death Metal, pushing it a step further and achieving a solid balance between power, melody and atmosphere.
The album’s lyrics are a stream of words provided by the collective unconscious. Through sleep deprivation, stress, and literary inspiration, the words came from an absent mind and a moving pen. They were written and performed from start to finish in a continuous line.
Founded in 2014 in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, by Sebastián Pastor, Plaguestorm emerged as a Melodic Death Metal project that has evolved over time into a more personal, intense and defined identity.
Throughout its career, the project has released the EP Everything’s Gone Wrong (2015), the full-length album Mother of Plagues (2019), Purifying Fire (2021) —released through the German label Noble Demon— and the EP Empty Eyes (2023).
Plaguestorm has featured collaborations with renowned international musicians such as Björn Strid, Mikael Sehlin, Eugene Ryabchenko and Okko Solanterä, among others, consolidating a strong presence within the genre.

En 2026, el proyecto Plaguestorm regresa con un nuevo álbum y una formación renovada, consolidándose como un dúo, integrado por Sebastián Pastor y Alexander Richichi. En esta nueva etapa, Sebastián se encarga de la composición, instrumentación y producción, mientras que Alexander aporta las voces y las liricas, forjando una nueva identidad más directa, intensa y definida dentro del Death Metal Melódico.
El proyecto presenta su próximo álbum de estudio, “Path to Emptiness”, que será lanzado de manera independiente el 26 de junio de 2026. El álbum fue mezclado y masterizado por Fredrik Nördstrom, figura clave en el desarrollo del sonido de Göteborg, reconocido por su trabajo con bandas fundamentales como In Flames, At The Gates y Dark Tranquillity.
Musicalmente, el álbum lleva el sonido de Plaguestorm hacia un terreno extremo, pero profundamente emocional, combinando riffs agresivos, armonías melancólicas y una base rítmica intensa con pasajes más densos y atmosféricos, acompañados por una interpretación vocal versátil que alterna entre registros agresivos, desgarrados y matices más expresivos, aportando mayor profundidad y dinamismo a las composiciones.
Al igual que en trabajos anteriores, Diego Martínez participa como músico invitado, aportando solos cargados de emotividad que enriquecen la identidad sonora del álbum.
La producción refuerza un enfoque moderno sin perder la esencia del Melodic Death Metal clásico, llevándolo un paso más allá y logrando un equilibrio sólido entre potencia, melodía y atmósfera.
Las letras del álbum son un torrente de palabras provenientes del inconsciente colectivo. A través de la falta de sueño, el estrés y la inspiración literaria, las palabras surgieron de una mente distraída y una pluma en movimiento. Fueron escritas e interpretadas de principio a fin en una línea continua.
